Shift to Sustainable

Shift To Sustainable

Fall is upon us! As the seasons shift, so are we. FGS is always looking for new ways to bring you more sustainable shopping options because 1. It’s much more affordable to shop in bulk! 2. It’s so good for Mama Earth. The smallest shift in our shopping habits can make a HUGE difference for our planet and our wallets. It’s truly a win-win!

Here are a few changes we are making now!

  1. Expanding our bulk herb and spice section: we are revamping our selection and making it much easier to refill your bottles from home to help you save money and to reduce waste. Spices for cooking, herbs for tea and tinctures – we’ll have it all. We will have containers to purchase or you can bring your own. This is a great way to upgrade your spice cabinet without breaking the bank!
  2. Bulk household items: coming in the next few weeks, we will have a soap and detergent refill station! These soaps are all natural and made in Durham, NC by a woman owned/run company. Stay tuned for an announcement for when this refill station is up and running!
  3. Reusable produce/shopping bags: We have several styles and selections of cool, reusable produce and shopping bags. Ditch the plastic!
  4. Partnership with Food Loop Compost: This is a local, woman owned composting company right here in Loudoun County. We are so excited to be one of their newest drop-off locations! Sign up with Food Loop Compost for $5 a month and drop off your food scraps to FGS! If you mention us as your drop-off location when you sign up, you’ll get $5 to spend at FGS! Food scraps are composted and used for soil to grow organic produce. This is a very cool way to reduce, reuse, and recycle and give back to our community!

And we are just getting started! As we continue to grow, so will our sustainable shopping options. What else would you like to see at FGS? More bulk options? More sustainable/reusable household items? Let us know at fgsleesburg@gmail.com. Thank you for the continued support and remember to shop small and local when you can!
