It is important to try to live a healthier lifestyle as much as possible so that when sickness or unexpected events come up, you don’t have to make a huge change, only small adjustments. You end up living your best, rather than defending against the worst. We are hoping that everyone will be encouraged to take a healthier approach to life during this time! Educate and encourage others as well. This could be something that catalyzes a new era of health! Think offense, not defense!

With the 2019 coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic, it’s especially important to understand that no supplement, diet, or other lifestyle modification other than social distancing and proper hygiene practices can protect you from COVID-19.

Currently, no research supports the use of any supplement to protect against COVID-19 specifically.

 

We have two categories for you today: supplements and food! And look! All of the supplements ARE food, or can be found in it. YAY!

 

SUPPS:

+ZINC: Zinc is not only an essential mineral, but is a powerhouse when it comes to fighting mucus and keeping your immune system strong. This should be taken every day, either from a food source or supplementally, and up your dosage if you feel anything coming on. It is also a strong antiviral: something we are all looking for!!

+ELDERBERRY: This little guy is a star of the natural remedy show, and for good reason! A strong force of antioxidants, it is anti-viral/ anti-inflammatory and can aid in sinus issues. Because mucus is used by our bodies to hold toxins (aka blow your nose! Take those hot eucalyptus showers! Peppermint oil on your chest!), the elderberry can dive in there, and kill the free radicals/ toxins/ sickness/ before our body even has to make the mucus. Pretty cool, right? It also works to shorten duration of illness, and as a daily immune booster.

+OREGANO: This guy is the muscles of the anti-all-bad-things-that-are-trying-to-make-you-unwell. Cook with this, and take it internally ESPECIALLY if you begin to show signs of being unwell. It is an herb, and is anti-bacterial, anti-viral, helps get rid of parasites, can be used to treat candida (bad bacterial overgrowth in gut!!) And is a NATURAL antibiotic. Woah. Oh, also, it’s allergy season too. Guess what’ll help? Oregano.

+BLENDS: FGS carries some awesome wellness or viral blends in store. One of those is called “Wellness Formula”. This guy is LOADED with vitamins, minerals, and herbs to keep your immune system at top-notch. Seriously, this supplement is strongggg. Loviral is another one we carry that is specifically used for viruses. Loviral “specifically protects and enhances immune and respiratory functions. Supports healthy sinuses, throat and lung tissues. Thins and loosens mucus,” directly from the bottle. Both the Wellness Formula and Loviral have several of the same herbs/ roots.

FOOD:

+RED PEPPERS: Vitamin C extraordinaire, bell peppers are a delicious and beautiful way to stock your body with some vitamin C. Be sure to get outside too, so that the vitamin D from the sun and the C can work in tandem for some great health benefits and energy boosts! They also have a niceeee dose of vitamin A! Eat lots of peppers! Some fun ways to eat them is stuffed, in chicken salad, or cooked in butter with mushrooms and onions and mixed into rice.

+BLUEBERRIES: All dark berries boast anti-oxidant properties, but blueberries in particular are extra high! These guys also have vitamin C, K and may protect from oxidative damage! Plus, they taste sooo good. Not in season right now, but still be sure to buy organic if you can. Bake lemon blueberry bread with these, blend into a smoothie, make a chia jam, or just eat straight!

+BONE BROTH: Bone broth has essential vitamins, minerals and saturated fat. This is the perfect combo for protecting your gut which is directly connected to our immunity. If your gut is unwell, you will be too. Keeping a healthy gut during this time will not only keep you healthy, but will keep your brain sharp too. Especially for all the stay at home parents during this time! Make at home, or buy pre-made from us!

+EXTRA: Eat lots of dark greens, herbs, spices, and good fat during this time. Limit sugar, and let’s keep ourselves and our families well!
